In 1931 John Truslow Adams published The Epic of America (we have a 1932 printing in the studio). It was the first use of the words American Dream — which Adams described as “not a dream of motor cars and high wages merely, but a dream of social order in which each man and each woman shall be able to attain to the fullest stature of which they are innately capable, and be recognized by others for what they are, regardless of the fortuitous circumstances of birth or position.”
Fast forward almost 100 years and this podcast asks the questions … How are we doing with that? Is the American Dream still a thing? Should it be a thing? How are we helping or hurting ourselves? Views from all walks of life right here in the good ol’ US of A.
